Charley Harper fabric

IMG_3462

I finally received the pile of fat quarters of Charley Harper fabric I ordered from Fabricworm–I’m psyched! I am a long-time admirer of the work of Charley Harper, so I was thrilled when I heard that Birch Fabric was coming out with a line of fabric based on his designs.

These two prints are my favorites. Although I have yet to see a red-headed woodpecker in my yard, cardinals and nuthatches visit my feeders daily.

This cardinal stopped to give David a bit of style and flair!

Awesome! And we have several red-headed woodpeckers in our yard; come get a couple of them. 😉

    • Ha–tell them to head to St. Louis! I am happy to have the hairy and red-bellied woodpeckers as regulars–I think my yard’s too suburban for the red-headed species, but I’ll continue to keep an eye out.

  5. This is dangerous! I told myself that I didn’t need ANY MORE FABRIC! Now you show me this–I’m waaaay tempted!

  6. I love Charley Harper and this fabric is just too delicious. I saw some applique quilt patterns at QuiltCon by a vendor that was from Hawaii. She passed the patterns off as her own, derived from Harper and expensive because she had to pay a copyright fee to the estate. I lost her web address and while googling for it the other day found out that the patterns might not be hers, and are available from other places. KeriDesigns.com was the lady I saw at QuiltCon But she still is not showing the mother and baby giraffe pattern that I want. I finally found it here: http://www.creativequiltkits.com/love-from-above-applique-giraffe-pattern-charley-harper-s-quilts-by-treglown-designs.html

    • Oh, thanks for sharing this link! The giraffes are adorable, but the penguins also caught my eye. My younger daughter has had a thing for penguins since she was a toddler–it’d be perfect for her. But I have never done an applique quilt–would I drive myself crazy?!

      • The ones I saw at QuiltCon were done in fusible applique, so no need to fret if you have an aversion to the “A” word. These are so much more attractive in person than even the photos! They are perfect baby quilts and unique from everything else out there. No frou frou ‘baby” novelty prints, either. Very striking.

      • I took the plunge and ordered the CH penguin pattern–that’ll be a project for the new year. Thanks again for the link!
