stitching in concentrated love
When I make a quilt that will be well used, loved and thus washed often, I like to embroider a quilt label. Patience is required, which for me is in short supply–embroidery is not my strong suit. As I embroider, to shift my focus from perceived imperfections and calm my sense of hurry-up-and-get-it-done, I imagine I am affixing prayers and good wishes with each stitch. Slowly the letters then the words take shape–and my stitched message full of concentrated love and hope appears.
