To make these classic five-panel boxers, I used adult and kid patterns for First Choice Boxers by Timber Lane Press. (I bought these patterns at Jackman’s Fabrics, but you can find them online on Amazon.) For four pair, I made the kid large; for the rest I made adult small. Garment sewing is not intuitive for me, but the pattern directions are clear and well illustrated. I always consider it a success when my finished project looks like the pattern picture! It was the first time I used sports elastic–it worked out well. I had also never done flat-felled seams before. I like the way they cleanly finish a seam. I got lots of practice: six flat-felled seams per boxer times 8!
